CPRE at Rockingham International Horse Trials

We feel that it is most important for us at CPRE to raise our profile among the people who live in the countryside, and to keep abreast of the issues that are on their minds.  An excellent opportunity to meet both of these objectives was presented to us by the International Horse Trials at Rockingham Castle in May 2016.

For the three days of the Horse Trials our stand at Rockingham showcased what CPRE does best.  Visitors to the stand – members and non-members alike - took part in a survey, which asked: “which countryside matters matter most to you?”  The top issues, in order were:

  1. Litter
  2. Supporting Local Produce
  3. Greenfield development

The survey responses were entered into a competition to win a hamper of delicious Made In Northamptonshire food and drink.  The winner was Mrs S Drage from Mears Ashby in Northamptonshire.

The hamper has now been won, but if you have a strong opinion on any one of these three topics, or indeed any countryside protection matter, please let us know by emailing info@cprenorthants.org.uk.

A further highlight of the event was the Lord Lieutenant’s Charity Ball, held in a marquee in the grounds of Rockingham castle.  Over 140 generous CPRE supporters enjoyed a three-course meal and danced to Megan and the Bourbon Boys.
